Single crochet (sc)

Here's how to make a single crochet stitch:

  1. Start with a foundation chain. Make a chain of the desired length, leaving one extra chain as a turning chain if you are working in rows.

  2. Insert your crochet hook into the second chain from the hook (or the designated stitch in your pattern). If you are using the turning chain, it's the second chain from the hook.

  3. Yarn over (wrap the yarn around your hook from back to front).

  4. Pull up a loop through the chain, so you have two loops on your hook.

  5. Yarn over again.

  6. Pull through both loops on your hook.

  7. You've successfully completed a single crochet. Repeat these steps for each stitch across the row.

Single crochet is a versatile stitch used in many crochet projects and serves as the foundation for more complex stitches and patterns.
