Make a magic loop

Here's how to make a magic loop (also called magic circle) in crochet:

  1. Place the yarn with a tail that's several inches long (about 6-8 inches) on your palm.

  2. Wrap the working yarn 2 times over your index finger

  3. Bring the 2nd loop over the first one that is on your finger

  4. Repeat the precious step once more but this time let the loop slide off the tip of your finger

  5. Pull from the threads and see how the know slides, this is the magic loop where you will start working into

  6. Work your stitches: Now, work the designated number of stitches into the loop as specified in your pattern. For example, if your pattern calls for six single crochet stitches (sc), insert your hook into the loop, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over again, and pull through both loops on the hook to complete a single crochet. Continue working the required number of stitches into the loop.

  7. Pull the tail: Once you've worked all the stitches into the loop, grab the tail of the yarn and gently pull it to tighten the loop. This will close the center of your project, eliminating the hole.

  8. Join the round: To join the round, you can slip stitch into the first stitch you made, or follow the instructions

A magic loop, also known as a magic ring or magic circle, is a technique used in crochet to start projects that require working in the round, such as amigurumi, hats, and some types of granny squares. It allows you to create a tightly closed center that can be pulled tight to eliminate the hole in the middle
