DK weight yarn (also called 11 wpi; 8 ply; no 3: Light) 50g or 115 yards for main color
Few yards or grams contrast color yarn in two colors

Double pointed knitting needles US 4 (3.5 mm) or to obtain gauge 4” x 4” (10 x 10 cm) = 20 sts x 28 rows (in stockinette stitch)
