You need:
Worsted (9 wpi; 10 ply; no 4: Medium) or aran (8 wpi; 10 ply; no 4: Medium) weight yarn about 40-80g or 65-135 yards + few yards of 3 contrast colors yarns for the balloons
Double pointed knitting needles US 8 (5 mm) or to obtain gauge 4” x 4” (10 x 10 cm) = 18 sts x 24 rows (in stockinette stitch)
Few sizes smaller knitting needles than your main needles such US 4 (3.5 mm)

RS and WS – right and wrong side
K – knit
